My name is Kathy Skaarup and I am excited to be your teacher this year. I am thrilled to meet you and your little ones on Wednesday, August 28th for Meet the Teacher. I look forward to big smiles, hugs and most importantly the privilege of watching the emotional, physical and academic growth of each student in my class
I grew up in Fairburn, Ga and graduated from Creekside High School. I went to the University of West Georgia where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education. I continued my education earning a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education at Piedmont College. I taught 1st grade in Henry County, Ga. I moved to North Carolina in 2005 and stayed home to care for my two boys, Sam (16) and Jack (13). I joined the Grow family in 2018 as an assistant in the 4 year old Bumblebee class.
In my free time I enjoy reading, walking, watching my boys play soccer and basketball and traveling with my family. I have been married for 19 years to my husband Patrick. We have two handsome boys and our family dog, Odie. Sam is a junior at Apex Friendship High school and Jack is an eighth grader at Apex Middle School. We have lived in Apex for 13 years.
