The Four Year Old Classes
Our four year old classes continues to build on the use of language while focusing more on the way letters and words come together to have meaning. We help children begin to see how symbols in our environment are letters that come together to form words and those words are what we use to read. We help students develop phonemic awareness by supporting their ability to isolate sounds in words. We strengthen their sound and letter knowledge based on what each student knows. We begin to see this letter knowledge starting to be present in student writing. We are careful to assess the children and to let those assessments drive our instruction of each child. This guarantees that we are meeting the needs of each student.
